The same could apply to planets in a different way. until it fits in your desired place on the HR diagram.
Instead of having a list of real stars, just make it so you can insert a star and change its properties - size, density, luminosity, etc. Make it so planets and other bodies are dynamic and change given their positions in space. Here are a few ideas off the top of my head:
