Select the default output audio device.Set the Input volume: and Output volume: to a reasonable level. In the following example the microphone device is a Logitech USB Headset. Select your microphone device from the list of sound input devices.Note that the internal microphone is set as the default input sound device. Select System Preferences -> Sound from the Apple menu. For more information, see Microphone Headset - Volume and Mute. You may need to unmute the microphone or adjust the volume on your headset. However, if your headset is connected via a USB port or hub, you will need to select the headset as your default recording and playback audio devices. Following are instructions to set the default audio devices for Mac, Windows Vista, and Windows 7, 8, or 10 computers. If your headset is connected to the microphone and speaker jacks on your computer, the headset earphones and microphone will be automatically treated as the default audio devices. Close all browser windows and complete the sound configuration before logging into VIN/VSPN to start a Zoom Webinar. If the browser is already open while you change the sound configuration on your computer, the open browser may not get the updated settings. This should be completed before opening a browser to start the VIN/VSPN session. You will need to configure your computer to use the headset as the default audio input/output, and to set the PC audio volume controls.

Please contact your course facilitator for further information. VIN may be able to supply the necessary audio equipment. If you need assistance, please contact Wally at or 1.800.846.0028 x 127. The microphone headset should come with installation instructions. Instead, we recommend that you use a microphone headset (such as the Logitech USB Headset H390) for Zoom Webinars. Internal PC microphones are not recommended as they tend to produce poor sound quality.

Before participating in Zoom Webinar, you must connect your microphone headset to the computer and set it as the default device.
